The NES turns 30 (in the USA) on October 18th, and retro gamers around the world are joining together to celebrate! This is an online international event, being held on all social media and every corner of the web. To tie everything together as one big party, we’ll be rocking all posts/content with the custom hashtag – #Happy30thNES.

This one-of-a-kind Metroid themed NES was created as a collaborative project between myself and Noel McEwen of ‘Airbrush by Noel McEwen’. We just unveiled it yesterday during the first day of the Metroid Celebration – #metroidcelebration.
We’re both big Metroid fans, and wanted to try and create an art piece that captured the spirit of playing the game. In preparation for this project, I played though Metroid and took note of what stood out the most to me. The final battle through Tourian, and then against Mother Brain, seemed a fitting scene. It’s absolute chaos compared to the rest of Zebes, and the first time you get that far you’re probably going to die. You just have no idea what to expect. The flurry of enemy fire and the lava hazards create one heck of a final NES boss confrontation.

August 15th marks the USA anniversary of Metroid on the NES, so I thought what better way to have some fun than to host a birthday celebration! I’ll be unveiling a new Metroid themed ‘Backlit NES’ as part of my ongoing art series, releasing a fun Metroid themed Youtube video, and giving away ALL of my coolest Metroid themed possessions as FREE PRESENTS during the celebration.
In addition to everything I’m personally doing, I hope that any of you who are Metroid fans will join with me and post stories, artwork, photos, videos, music, or any other related content on social media starting on the 15th with the hashtag #metroidcelebration to help show how much we love Metroid. I’m gathering a small army of artists, cosplayers, musicians, and diy’ers to post content and help enrich the event.
EVERY POST that you make ANYWHERE with the hashtag #metroidcelebration will enter you to win the prizes that I’m giving away. Post your favorite Metroid artwork, talk about your first experiences playing Metroid as a kid, whatever. ALL posts that include the hashtag will enter you for a chance to win!

Introducing the ‘TMNT Party Wagon NES’! A fully functioning Nintendo built into a TMNT Turtle Van toy.
To my knowledge, the first in the world
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and a new movie from Michael Bay is coming out on August 8th. Although TMNT fans have very mixed feelings about how the film will be, everyone will agree that Turtle fever is alive and well.
In honor of the anniversary, I am celebrating with something VERY special…
Stay tuned for more details!
Growing up in the 80s, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made a huge impact on me. The cartoons, the movies, the games, the toys, the costumes, the clothing – they were everywhere, and they were awesome. If you grew up in that generation you were basically guaranteed to like something about them. Of all the memories I have though, playing 2 player TMNT II: The Arcade Game on the NES have to be some of the best. Fighting hundreds of Foot Soldiers with my best friend at my side was like a dream come true.
As many of you probably know by now, I’m a big fan of Mega Man. Specifically though, I grew up playing Mega Man 2, so that’s the one I really have a soft spot for. I enjoy all of them, but the second in the series stands as one of my all time favorite NES games. It’s actually sitting on my desk right now.
