Currently on display at Gallery iam8bit in Los Angeles, California, I present to you the ‘Backlit Apocalyptic Mega Man NES’! This is a very unique collaborative art piece. I teamed up with artists Noel McEwen and Gary Bedell to bring this one to life.
Read on for more photos and information about the project!
As many of you probably know by now, I’m a big fan of Mega Man. Specifically though, I grew up playing Mega Man 2, so that’s the one I really have a soft spot for. I enjoy all of them, but the second in the series stands as one of my all time favorite NES games. It’s actually sitting on my desk right now.
Hot off the presses, here’s a one-of-a-kind tribute NES to the Blue Bomber! To create this system I teamed up with my good friend Noel McEwen of McEwen Airbrush. We plan to do a whole series of these, so stayed tuned

I’ve been on a total Mega Man kick for awhile now. My most recent project being this basic “Met” robot enemy. It’s the enemy that is just a hard hat sitting on the ground until you get close to it. Then, it pops up and shoots bullets at you.
This particular build has a removable hard hat so you can have the robot in either pose. If/when I build version 2.0 I would like to have it actually shoot something, probably ping pong balls, and maybe even pop up. We’ll see
If you’re interested to see how I built this, read on!
Happy to announce that this set of controllers will be added to the ebay auction for the ‘Backlit Mega Man 25th Anniversary NES’! Custom NES Guy and I just finished these up! Hope you like them.
The front half of the controllers are dark blue, the back half is light blue. Black lines run along all the edges to help the color really pop. The A and B button are also painted dark blue. I even created custom overlays to match the Mega Man console design while trying to remain true to the look of the original overlays.
What do you think?
As most of you probably know, I teamed up with Custom NES Guy a short time ago and created a one-of-a-kind backlit NES in honor of the Blue Bomber. This Thursday, June 13th, it will go up for sale on eBay under my seller ID: platinumfungi4ijw
This will be your ONLY CHANCE to grab this fully functioning PROTOTYPE design.
Stay tuned for more updates! I’ll be posting them every day until the auction begins
I have been thrilled by the amazing feedback I’ve received about this custom NES since I went public with it earlier this month I thank each and every one of you that have sent me messages, ‘Liked’ my Facebook page, and shared my work on your websites and with your friends. It truly means a lot to me. Your positive comments and support keep me motivated to continue creating NES art.
Due to popular demand, I have decided to auction it off in about two weeks. I will keep you updated as we get closer to the date, and eventually post the link to the auction both here and on my Facebook page. I will also soon publicly show the as of yet unseen custom controllers that go along with this system! I hope you all enjoy them.
Stay tuned, and THANK YOU ALL for your support!
Attention: My server is melting from all the traffic about this Mega Man NES. Thank you to everyone who is sharing this. I’ve removed most of the pictures from this page to restore the site, so if you want to see all the photos please click this link!
