As many of you probably know by now, I’m a big fan of Mega Man. Specifically though, Mega Man 2 is by far my favorite in the series. It’s the one that I’ve had the most fun playing, and also have the most memories of. I enjoy all of them, but the second in the series really stands as one of my all-time favorite NES games. It’s actually sitting on my desk right now.

If you’ve been following my work you know that I’ve already made a tribute piece celebrating the 25th anniversary of the original Mega Man, so it only made sense to me to create something to celebrate Mega Man 2. I decided I wanted to make something a little different though – something more complex and if possible, more unique. I wanted to create something new that had never been seen before – something to help give back a little to the retro gaming community and hopefully remind people of all the old memories they have for this amazing game. I came up with a few different ideas, but I kept coming back to the infamous level select screen… I can’t even look at it without hearing the music in my head. Can you?

Like many of my NES art pieces, I teamed up with the legendary Custom NES Guy to bring this to reality. You’ll see that he and I collaborate a lot, and with good reason – he’s one of the very best at what he does in the entire world.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it!
